Two different jobs
Moving across an existing image and inventing a new action are different tasks. A predictable pan, zoom, or transition can often be rendered from the original asset. Turning a subject, revealing hidden surfaces, or creating new action requires information the source image does not contain.
The Open Pomelli boundary
The local design routes only eligible motion to deterministic rendering. Generative video remains the route for changes that require new geometry, viewpoints, or semantic action. Eligibility is a creative constraint, not just a file-format check.
Include the replacement cost
Local rendering still consumes compute and engineering effort. The planning model includes an allowance for it and assumes only 60–70% of motion is eligible. Treat those inputs as assumptions to test against a real campaign brief.
The user’s test
Review whether the motion communicates the intended idea. A cheaper zoom is not an acceptable substitute for a requested action sequence. The useful saving is the one that preserves the brief while removing unnecessary generation.
